President’s Message for October 2025

Dear Fellow Rotarians and Friends,
October is a month of action, reflection, and celebration for all of us in Rotary. It is the month when we renew our commitment to one of Rotary’s most important causes – End Polio Now. Since the campaign started in 1988, Rotary has been at the forefront of the global fight to eradicate polio, and today we stand closer than ever to achieving a polio-free world. Our efforts, together with global partners, have reduced polio cases by 99.9%, saving millions of children from paralysis and giving hope to countless families.
This month, our Club is privileged to host a special speaker, President Elect Dafydd Green from Rotary Club of Raffles City, who will share valuable insights on polio eradication efforts at our October 9 physical monthly meeting. This talk would remind us why our mission is so critical and how each of us plays a role in keeping polio at bay until it is finally eradicated. Currently Dafydd helps to run Asia Dengue Voice and Action (ADVA), Asia Pacific Immunization Coalition (APIC) and the Asian Strategic Alliance for Pneumonia Prevention (ASAP). He has a string of interests in dangerous pathogens such as Ebola and Nipah virus, as well as disease eradication strategies.
I invite all members to attend and be inspired to continue supporting this vital noteworthy cause. October 24 is World Polio Day, a time for all Rotarians, public health advocates and all who care about a world free from polio to come together to end polio for good. I encourage members to donate generously towards the End Polio fund.
October is also a month of fellowship and celebration. In the spirit of giving, our Rotarian PP Richard Ong and our partner in service, Rong Liang Restaurant as part of the Happy Meals team has distributed 10 boxes of mooncakes to the needy in Lee Ah Mooi Old Age Home, generously sponsored by Mdm Claire Chua, bringing joy, warmth and comfort to the elderly and infirm in our community. This month, we will also enjoy precious moments of friendship and bonding as we come together in Rotary fellowship celebrating the Mid-Autumn festival on board Funing a large Chinese vessel and delight in amazing curated cultural entertainment activities planned by our dedicated Organising Chair Rotarian Oh Hock Chong —strengthening the ties that make our E-Club of 3310 a family united in service.
Let us take pride in what we have achieved and look forward to the opportunities ahead to SHINE. Together, we continue to make a difference—whether in eradicating polio worldwide or touching lives within our local community and abroad.
Unite For Good,
Dr. (h.c) Gracy Yap
