President’s Message for December 2025

Dear Fellow Rotarians and Friends,
As the calendar turns to December, let us reflect on all the good we’ve done with our acts of kindness in 2025 – big or small – with gratitude, and renewed purpose. This month, as always, we align ourselves with Rotary’s December theme of
“Disease Prevention and Treatment.” I’m pleased to announce that Rotary E-Club of 3310 has successfully raised the funds required from our generous PHF and PHFS members (myself included) to embark on a new Gift of Sight Indonesia 2025 Global Grant application. We hope to perform 500 to 600 eye cataract operations for the low income marginalised beneficiaries in Bandung, mostly breadwinners and farmers. Special mention goes to Rotary Club of Bandung for partnering us in this noteworthy cause, and PP Efi and our CP Chew Ban Seng for championing this legacy avoidable blindness project. And to our Foundation Chair PP Vicky Soo for garnering support for donations. I am also happy to announce that our club has contributed USD25 for its ordinary members toward The Rotary Foundation and End Polio Plus funds respectively, a total of USD50 – in the spirit of giving.
Gifts to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International is more than a donation. It’s changing lives worldwide. This contribution supports initiatives with proven, lasting impact. In communities near and far, mothers and their children gain access to quality health care, students develop lifelong skills, families have clean water to drink, and it supports peacebuilding, economic development, and environmental conservation for stronger communities.
In the quiet glow of year-end lights, as many of us gather with loved ones and celebrate the festive season, let us not forget to celebrate the lives of the elderly in our local community. Thanks to our Project Lead, Rotarian Cindy Yen,12 kind-hearted donors from E-Club of 3310 have stepped forward to contribute to “Celebrate Life, One Birthday at a Time At Oasis@ Outram Hospice”. So from January to December 2026, imagine the warmth of a smile and joy when a patient receives a birthday cake, surrounded by well wishes and loved ones..This hospice provides high quality palliative care to the terminally ill and its mission is to create meaningful days for its clients safeguarding their mental health, dignity, and hope.
Project Edible Farming at Gladiolus Place is blooming, under the guidance of Lyvenne Phoon and the able leadership of our Club Community Service Director Rotarian Foo Lai Chan, with the support of Rotarian Cindy Teo, and Charter President Chew Ban Seng. Exciting developments included the growth of a pumpkin, which is becoming increasingly larger, and the girls at Gladiolus Place utilizing fresh mint leaves from the garden for detoxification and skin beautification! Furthermore, the last planter received a fresh coat of paint, adding a vibrant touch to the garden. Shout-out also to our Happy Meals lead PP Richard Ong and Swami Home volunteering lead Rotarian Dr. Doris Ang for making their mark in community service and flying the E-Club of 3310 Flag high!
We are all looking forward to our annual Christmas Fellowship party on 14 December to be hosted at PP Vicky Soo’s lovely condo function room. Excitement mounts when we have Rotarian Oh Hock Chong as our Game Master, Hock Chong is now known even at the district level for hosting and managing successful cutting edge events that are fun and engaging!
What a beautiful end to 2025. As we close out the year, I encourage each of us to reflect on the difference we’ve made together as a Rotarian – in lives saved, in communities empowered, in hope and the gift of sight restored. And as we look forward to a new year and new goals, let us continue to SHINE and carry forward that spirit of service, compassion, kindness, and fellowship.
Wishing you, your families, and all those you serve a warm, peaceful, and joyous festive season! May December fill your hearts with gratitude and love, and inspire us to continue making a difference in the world.
In Rotary spirit and fellowship,
#UniteForGood
